  • Raise a glass its time for Oktoberfest. – For nineteen years the Penn Brewery has brought Munich to Pittsburgh with our annual Oktoberfest celebration and this year will be no exception. Held the same weekends as its German counterpart, the Penn Brewery offers the most authentic Oktoberfest celebration in Pittsburgh.

Completed in June 2006, the Nine Mile Run Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration is the largest urban stream restoration conducted by the Army Corps of Engineers in the United States. Come and see how the restoration has changed the valley and learn about the specialized techniques used for this unique habitat enhancement project.   • Sharon "Mama" Spell in Boston and NYC – Performer, Comedian, Artist – Mama is origionally from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, but now calls Pittsburgh home. Mama has performed all over Pittsburgh and now she performs all of the country – so even if you aren't in PGH – some PGH can come to you.

  • Major bass fishing tournament coming to city next year – I was totally enjoyed the bass masters tournament last summer. I am am thrilled more competitive fishing is coming to town. – "Pittsburgh has netted the 2009 Forest L. Wood Cup Championship, a four-day bass fishing tournament that pays the winning angler $1 million."

  • September Tech V!be – The September 2008 edition of the Pgh Technology Council's newsletter has some great stuff. Links to some IheartPGH favorite events and some other interesting upcoming events. If you aren't already on the mailing list for the tech council I reccomend you sign up.

  • Designer Days: NCJW, – Each year the Pittsburgh chapter of the National Council of Jewish Women holds a massive clothing sale of new and used clothing at the Expo Mart. I have gottned some great things here in the past. If you are a clothing shopper this is worth a stop. The 2008 sale is on October 18 and 19.
  • Flavorville Cafe – this is the BEST place for lunch in Pittsburgh. Mike fed me lunch almost daily for a year. Mike is awesome and this place is tasty and affordable. I can't believe I haven't blogged about them yet. I will have to make a visit there and write more about Flavorville.
  • pairIncubator – World-Class Web Technology Incubator – this looks really cool – the folks behind pair networks are looking for a few good businesses to incubate. deadline is Jane 2, 2009.
