An Update on the Three Rivers Postcard Club

January 19, 2017 Lindsay

Embed from Getty Images When I first started blogging, I set up a google calendar to keep track of and share Pittsburgh events. In 2008 we wrote a post about the Three Rivers Postcard Club and I added a recurring event for their monthly meetings to the calendar. While the IheartPGH Google calendar has not been updated in years, each month I still get a reminder for the monthly meeting of the Three Rivers Postcard Club. And each month I’ve wondered if the club still exists. As much as I love social media and I love looking at and sharing… Read the rest

January 6, 2011 Lindsay

Just an update on helping to send the Steelers Fans to Hawaii – there is still time to vote for Jack D. from Pittsburgh – currently he is behind some Jets fans to win a trip to the Pro Bowl in Hawaii. Dan Gigler who writes Blog’n’Gold for the Post-Gazette – just wrote about another Pittsburgh family who is competing to win a trip to the super bowl.  They are in the lead but need your vote.  Dan also included a link to our post about voting for Jack D. to win a trip to Hawaii.  Thank Dan! April 3rd – Intro to Fly Fishing

March 31, 2010 Lindsay

The weather forecast for this Saturday is sunshine and 78 degress – which is a nice change from the weather at the beginning of February.  So why not use this as an opportunity to learn to fly fish.  Venture Outdoors is offering an Intro to Fly Fishing workshop on Saturday, April 3, 2010. Learn the basics of rods, reels, line, tippets, knots and flies, and receive hands-on practice in a variety of casting techniques. Of course, a fly-fishing experience wouldn’t be complete without time on the stream, so bring your waders! Instructed by Dale and Cyndi Kotowski, of Chestnut Ridge… Read the rest

Here are some links/articles/blog posts that are worth a look: Post-Gazette – BRICKS’ booklet essays aim to inspire cancer patients – The Post-Gazette has an article on BRICKS – Building Resources in Cancer Knowledge and Services. A project funded through the Sprout Fund to share information about cancer and young people living with cancer. Bonfire from Tugboat Printshop – Check out the latest color wood cut print from Pittsburgh’s Tugboat Printshop – they have included lots of photos of the print process here too. Where Are You Celebrating After the St. Patrick's Day Parade?

March 3, 2010 Lindsay

Image by ccs-pics via Flickr We have recieved numerous emails asking what to do after the St. Patrick’s Day Parade.  As you may know, Market Square is under construction (check out these articles on the impact of the construction on the Market Square businesses – Post-Gazette 2/5/2010 and Tribune Review 2/26/2010).  We are very sad to see another local business close and there are many Pittsburghers who are sad about the lack of a place to celebrate after the parade.… Read the rest
