Happy February 1! While it may be super bowl weekend – Pittsburgh has decided that isn’t really an occasion worth celebrating.  Thankfully hockey is back and Punxsutany Phil makes an appearance.  There are a bunch of ways to celebrate Groundhog Day around Pittsburgh this weekend.  And with just 14 days left until Valentine’s day – there are a few activities to help you pick out or make some gifts for that special someone.

Here are the events we share on WDVE radio this morning.  You can listen to us live with the DVE Morning show most Friday mornings at 6:45 am.

Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth at Sinful Sweets in Lawrenceville

Sinful Sweets is a newly opened chocolate shop in the heart of Lawrenceville on 44th street where you can buy chocolate, candies, and get a scoop of ice cream. Christopher George is the owner of Sinful Sweets and has been in the chocolate business since early 2011. But his love of chocolate is rooted in his past, with memories of chocolate shops in his home state of New York and of his uncle’s chocolate factory in Chicago.

Since early 2011, Christopher has made chocolate and candy for weddings, birthdays, bachelor and bachelorette parties. And since late last year, he has owned the Sinful Sweets chocolate factory that sells all kinds of scrumptious chocolate—chocolate covered pretzels, toffee, peanut butter rice krispie treats, sea salt caramels, and even chocolate covered bacon– that is all made in the store by Chris.

Everything we tried from Sinful Sweets was positively delightful, and I would definitely recommend stopping in before Valentine’s Day to get your Valentine something. The sea-salted caramels and the peanut butter chocolate covered pretzels were my favorite. The milk chocolate melted on my tongue and the mix of salty and sweet with both the pretzel and the salted caramel is an unbeatable combination. So head out and support your local chocolate shop and buy something you know your sweetheart will enjoy tomorrow.

As a special for Valentine’s Day tomorrow, Sinful Sweets is offering 10% off any online order over $20, and Pittsburghers can choose the option to pay in-store and pick up here instead of waiting for it to be shipped. The coupon code is Love. Chris is also offering a 10% discount in the store for anyone who mentions I heart PGH.
