Collaboration + Illustration. East End Brewing + Toonseum = Illustration Ale. Release Party Sat. Night

The good folks from East End Brewing who have been providing good beer and really good events are back with another good thing.  This time East End Brewing has partnered with the Toonseum for their limited edition Illustration Ale.

Illustration Ale is a a Belgian Dark Strong Ale and it is a very limited edition – only 700 bottles.   There are 6 labels designed just for this beer by Pittsburgh cartoonists. The custom labels were designed by David Coulson, Dave Klug, Pat Lewis, Jim Rugg, George Schill, and Mark Zingarelli.  Two dollars from the sale of each bottle will directly benefit the ToonSeum.

Make your own political cartoons and campaign buttons at the Warhol's Cartoon Factory

This weekend the Warhol Museum opens a new exhibit called the Cartoon Factory that has got a few of my favoirte things.  I love the warhol because you can screen print things there and this new exhibit gives you a chance to make your own political cartoons or campaign buttons.

Free Comic Book Day is May 5, 2008

Yes, it is true – Saturday, May 5, 2008 is free comic book day everywhere and that includes Pittsburgh!

Stop by one of these local comic book shops to pick up your own free comic book.  Thanks to the Carnegie Library Teen Website for the info.

 The ToonSeum (which is located in the Pittsburgh Children’s Museum) will be celebrating with FREE comic books, trivia and guest appearances by cartoon artists.  They have an exhibit of Peanuts cartoons that runs until May 18th, 2008.

Saturday May 3rd, is National Cartoonists Day and Free Comic Book Day!

Visit the ToonSeum at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh to meet cartoonists including: Editorial cartoonist Rob Rogers, Yo Gabba Gabba animator Kris Boban, storytelling cartoonist Joe Wos, illustrator Don Peoples, comic book artist Mike Corle and many more.

Join us for quick draw sessions, trivia contest, free sketches and a special tour of our current exhibit, “Inside Peanuts!” Free comic books while supplies last.

Event takes place all day between 11am-5pm.
