MARGARITAS IN MARCH

Just when I was about to say that there is not much happening in Pittsburgh right now, poof, tons of emails about cool events. I heart margaritas. Check out this cool event at the Union Project

Join Union Project On March 23rd 7-10pm, to highlight Pittsburgh’s connection with the Latin American cultures and its historical roots in glass arts and production, this happy hour will feature both a live mariachi band and
hand crafted glasswork. In participation with Pittsburgh Celebrates Glass! 2007 and in partnership with Global Beats and Pittsburgh’s Latin American Cultural Union,

and in honor of Mexico’s heroic Benito Juarez, Miguel Latino Moods, Pittsburgh’s signature mariachi band will fill
Union Project’s Great Hall with energetic music. Attendees enjoy hand-blended margaritas and networking throughout the evening for $5. Local handmade margarita glasses will be on display and available for purchase.

Unheard, Uncommon, Unboring

The Union Project (my favorite community center/cafe) is hosting their annual holiday kick-off this Saturday, Dec 3.  Just $20, which is a steal, the evening includes performances by

  • Centro Flamenco de Pittsburgh
  • The Pentecostal Temple Mass Choir
  • The Oriental Star Dancers
  • El Coro Latino Americano
  • The First United Methodist Church of Pittsburgh Bell Choir

There will also be a live auction for some excellent items – another great place to do good while doing your christmas shopping.

Saturday December 3
7-10pm
The Union Project, Corner of Stanton & Negly in Highland Park
The Union Project has a number of other events as part of this years unwrapped celebrations.  Click here for the Unwrapped website.

Tasty food to go

The Union Project, that super amazing community center in the East End, that I often visit, has been upgrading their Cafe. I don’t know how they improve on perfection, but they did. Well actually I do know how they did it. By putting Olga Watkins in charge. Olga has been giving the menu at the Union Project Cafe a complete makeover. And it gets better – now they offer off site catering. Cool.

Stop by the Union Project and say hello to Olga, and let them take the headache out of ordering food for your next event.
