Save Your Money Honey

The Union Project continues their monday evening series Dollars & Sense.

Stop by this Mondasy, July 9, to learn about planning and saving for your first house – yes, you too can buy your very own Pittsburgh homestead. This week’s presentation will be feature the good folks from Dwelling House Savings and Loan (a super community oriented band here in Pittsburgh).

I was there two weeks ago for a crash course in budgeting, met some super nice people and dined on some tasty snacks from the Union Project Cafe.

YERT Launch Party

I have always wanted to take a cross country road trip and really see the country. Now that I spend a lot of time writing about Pittbsurgh I can only imagine that there are great stories all over this country. That is why I envy this project.

YERT = Your Environmental Road Trip

YERT (Your Environmental Road Trip) is a year-long eco-expedition through all 50 United States. With video camera in hand and tongue in cheek, we’ll explore the landscape of America’s unique approach to environmental sustainability…. Follow us each week as we shamelessly bathe ourselves in the best (and weirdest) of America’s ecological progress with a mix of outrageous antics, provocative examples, and thoughtful reporting.

The YERT team is having their launch party right here in Pittsburgh

Meet the League

I just wanted to share this invitation to meet the PA League of Young voters.  I have had the honor of meeting their national director, Billy Wimstat, on a number of occasions.  Billy is passionate, creative and dedicated to getting more people, young people involved in the political process.  I am now the Pittsburgh rep to the League of Young Voter’s national council.
Pittsburgh’s own Khari Mosley has worked to establish Pittsburgh as a major hub for the League of Young Voters.  Billy, Khari and all of the folks at The League are doing an amazing job of using technology, arts and hard work to bring more people into the political process.  Even if you aren’t “in to politics” this is one fun group of people.  The League of Young Voters, is not just young people, I promise there will be people of all ages there.  I highly recommend you stop by and say hello and check out what they are up to.
