Friday 12/5 & Saturday 12/6 – PULSE Alternative Holiday Gift Market

I did a lot of holiday shopping at this event last year.  PULSE – Pittsburgh Urban Leadership Service Experience is a great organization that has been bringing college graduates to Pittsburgh and inspiring change in several neighborhoods.  This market features handmade items by the PULSE fellows and supporters.

If you go on Friday, take some time to visit the other businesses that will be open for First Fridays on Penn Ave.

Pittsburgh filmmaker Brian Staszal posted a link to his video about HandMade Arcade in the comments back in December.  It is a really nice look at the handmade festivities so I wanted to share the video in a post too.  Even if you missed the handmade marketplace in December – most of the vendors have online websites or a shop at Etsy too.   The video includes an interview with Jennifer Barron – check out her Etsy Shop Fresh Popcorn Productions and the “Black and Gold is the new black t-shirt.  Also seen at Handmade Arcade are the guys from Campfire Goods – they have lots of great t-shirts too.
