Spillapalooza

SpillapaloozaHave you ever thought to yourself, “Gee, if only there was a way I could combine my love of Zumba, empty swimming pools and marine wildlife into one amazing event!”?  Well, the good folks in Lawrenceville have figured it out for you.  That’s right, its SPILLAPALOOZA, a grassroots benefit for oil spill victims being held this Saturday from 12:30 -7pm at Leslie Park Pool (46th and Butler Streets)!  The event will feature a Zumbathon in the pool and loads of music, dancing and festivities.  Zumba dancers show up at 12 for registration!  Cost is $10 to participate in Zumbathon or $10 for entry to the festival.  All proceeds will benefit the Gulf Restoration Network.  For more info read all about it in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette!

Meet the Sky Rocket and Be One of The First to Ride the New Coaster at Kennywood

We love to see Pittsburgh people working together – Kennywood has partnered with the Greater Pittsburgh Foodbank to launch their new roller coaster – the Sky Rocket.

They are auctioning off the first 200 seats to ride on the new coaster – all of the money from the auction benefits the Greater Pittsburgh Food Bank. Bidding starts at $50.

Date: Tuesday, June 29, 2010 – Must be at the park by 8:30

Bidding Details:

  • Minimum bid = $50.00 – includes an all-day pass to Kennywood and a goodie souvenir bag.
  • Highest bidder gets first choice of seating position, next highest, next choice, etc.
  • You may bid for as many seats as you like.
  • Auction ends Sunday, June 27th at midnight

And they're off…A Night at the Races to Benefit Dormont Boosters

Head on down to the Dormont Recreation Center (1801 Dormont Avenue) on Saturday night for some gambling fun to benefit the Dormont Boosters.  All of the proceeds from the evening support athletic programs for kids in Dormont.

Solids or Stripes – Quantum Theater's Q Ball

If you are looking for something fancy to do this Saturday night you might want to check out the Q Ball.  This is the gala fundraiser for Quantum Theater.

Quantum Theater has been staging performances in Pittsburgh since 1990 and brings theater to unusual Pittsurgh places.  Quantum has staged over 50 productions in Pittsburgh – each in a unique location.

Situation theater: For two decades and counting, homegrown theater company Quantum has been presenting compelling site-specific productions within some of the city’s most distinct settings—from Allegheny Cemetery and Heppenstahl Steel Mill, to the Garden Theater and Frick Art & Historical Center. The ever fearless company has even produced plays inside a pool housed within Braddock’s Carnegie Library.
