Furniture Sale

Welcome students! I stopped in Oakland for lunch today (I think Oakland is the best neighborhood for lunch).  Traffic, no parking signs, it all means that the students are moving in.  Welcome to Pittsburgh.  If you find yourself needing some furniture – look no further.  The Oakland Planning & Development Corporation (OPDC) has got a great event for you. This weekend is their 2nd Annual furniture sale. I think this is a great idea, discounted furniture for students and a way to recycle all of the furniture that gets left behind each spring.  It is a win-win idea.  Plus it raises money to help with future plans for Oakland.  Last year’s sale raise over $1000. From the pictures on their website it looks like they have tons of great stuff for dorm rooms and apartments.

Refresh Pittsburgh tonight at the Creative Treehouse

Attention all web geeks! Refresh Pittsburgh is a group of folks who want to refresh the web design and web development cultures in Pittsburgh.

We’re having a meeting tonight at the Creative Treehouse in Bellevue. See where it is on Google Maps. Remember, second floor! If the phrases “web 2.0” or “progress” are in your vocabulary (or you want them to be) then we want you there!

Happy Hours

Lots of great happy hours to check out this evening

Drinking Green – Green Drinks is back at Bossa Nova. This months hosts are the great guys behind G-TECH, a new start-up company from some CMU students. I have had the opportunity to talk with both Andrew and Nathaniel from GTECH a couple of times – they have great ideas for the future of Pittsburgh and they are lots of fun. All are welcome to attend.
