All Queen, all the time – Queen Tribute Show at the Byham

One Night of Queen, OxfordImage by ellyukrm via Flickr

One Night of Queen is a Queen tribute show now on their second US tour and will be stopping in Pittsburgh on Sunday, April 5, 2009 at the Byham Theater. One Night of Queen is preformed by Greg Mullen and his band the Works.  Greg got his start as a karaoke singer in Glasgow and now tours the world with his Queen tribute show. Tickets are available at PghArts.

Read more about Greg Mullen and One Night of Queen in PopCity Media here.

I know there have to be some Queen fans here in the city of champions.  One Pittsburgher is selling an original ticket stub from a 1978 Queen concert on ebay – bidding is open until April 8, 2009.

School of Steelers Rock – Steelers Songs and Video

Strawberry flavored Pop RocksImage via Wikipedia

I know that this video has been posted all over the web and these kids have been covered by the Post-Gazette but I wanted to post the video here in case you haven’t seen it yet.

The Pop Rocks are a group of middle school kids who formed a group while attending a summer music camp at The Davis School of Guitar Performance which is located in Harmony, Butler County.  If you visit Harmony stop in and say hi to the folks who run the Bottlebrush Gallery located in downtown Historic Harmony.

These kids have a great lyrics and performance all set to the tune of Pat Benetar‘s Heartbreaker.

You can read the lyrics to the song here at Steelers Depot.  Looking for more Steelers songs?  Check out this post at Steezbros.  Even Madisonian.net, a blog by Pitt Law professor Mike Madison takes a look at the copyright around this song.

It is really interesting to see all of the Steelers song video’s on YouTube.  Just 3 years ago when Steeler’s songs we only had lyrics to share. Continue reading

WYEP Rock the Block

WYEP is one of the biggest lovers of Pittsburgh. This is a radio station that has been a labor of love by some amazing Pittsburgh music lovers for many year. I am actually sitting in Oh Yeah listening to WYEP as I type this. This radio station is most definitely a cause that is worthy of your dollars and this is a great event. I attended Rock the Block in 2006 and had a great time.

$35 gets you food, drink, and an outdoor concert from Cracker and Pittsburgh’s own Donora.

WYEP Rock the Block – Saturday, September 6, 2008 8pm-Midnight

Some of my favorite food establishments will be providing the food – big Burrito Restaurant Group, East-End Food Co-Op, Enrico’s Tazza D’Oro, Harris Grill, Point Brugge Cafe.
