The first frost warning of the season has been issued for this evening and I bet you’ve already pulled out a few sweaters from those storage containers to prepare.
While you’re lamenting the loss of those hot days and awful sunburns of summer 2010, you might come across some sweaters or jeans that just don’t fit anymore or perhaps that cute wool skirt doesn’t look as cute as it did last year. Be sure to save those items for the Redd Up Thread Up, a community clothing swap to benefit the Women’s Center & Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh.
Take your donations to the WYEP Community Broadcast Center Nov 1-5 and come to the Redd Up Thread Up on Saturday, November 6 from 12-5pm to discover “new” treasures and mingle with your neighbors.
Local craft all-stars from the Pittsburgh Craft Collective and the I Made It! Market will be there providing upcycling demos to help you jazz up your old duds.
If you donate at least one bag of clothing, you’ll receive one free event tote bag, printed by Commonwealth Press, to “shop” at the event. Additional tote bags can be purchased for $5. 100% of the proceeds from Redd Up Thread Up will go to the Women’s Center & Shelter.
Please spread the word to your friends, neighbors, Facebook friends, blog readers, hipster relatives, FedEx delivery guy, and that cute guy you meet at the bar this weekend.
Community + Good Cause + Clothing + Crafting + Tote Bags = PURE WIN!!
I’ll see you there 🙂
