I am sorry I didn’t get to post this before Christmas but the Eat N  Park star commercial is a classic – so we can still enjoy it after Christmas too. (I love that EatNPark continues to air this commercial each holiday season – read more about the commercial and lots of other smiley things on the EatNPark Blog here).

And here is another holiday video that is sure to bring some joy (and I believe it was filmed here in Pittsburgh too!) what is sure to become a new holiday classic – Let the Belly go Jelly.

WYEP Holiday Hootenannny this Thursday!

Hootenanny: a thingamajig

Hootenanny: a thingamajig

I started out with a lot of clever openings to this post … and then I decided to look up the exact definition of ‘hootenanny.’  The first definition is exactly what you envision, (n.) “a social gathering or informal concert featuring folk singing and, sometimes, dancing.”  However, an older use of the word hootenanny is in fact a ‘thingumbob.’  If I was going to a thingumbob on Thursday night I figured I should find out what it was.  And there it was… the definition of thingamabob, according to Dictionary.com was thingamajig!  All confusion cleared up, I emailed a couple of friends to see if they wanted to attend a thingamajig on Thursday night where members of some of the best local bands would be performing holiday music at the Pittsburgh Opera (2425 Liberty Ave.) as Silver & Gold.  The event starts at 6:30PM – music at 7PM – tickets are $5 suggested donation along with a canned good for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, and, sometimes, dancing.  I’ll see you at the thingamajig on Thursday.

I Made It and Handmade Arcade Gifts Ideas

Handmade Arcade (Pittsburgh)

A few weeks ago I had the great fortune to meet some of the folks who work at ModCloth, an online retailer of fabulous fashions that is based here in Pittsburgh.  One of the cool tools I learned about is Polyvore – which is a website that lets you “clip” your favorite items and group them into sets to share on your blog, Facebook and Twitter.   I have been having some fun creating sets of items for Spreadshirt so I thought I would do the same for IheartPGH too. (I have even set up an IheartPGH group on Polyvore here).

My first Polyvore set for IheartPGH is a round up of some items from vendors who were at the I Made It Market or Handmade Arcade.  (I wanted to add even more but for some reason – you can’t clip images from Etsy to Polyvore 🙁 ).

Here are just a few of the goodies that were available – click on each item to learn more about it and visit the website of the vendor. Most of the vendors are from Pittsburgh too!

Did you buy any handmade gifts? Who were your favorite vendors? Please share more links to Etsy shops in the comments.
