Fish Fry Season – who has the best fish fry in Pittsburgh?

While I was not raised Catholic, I have come to appreciate the tasty annual tradition of the Fish Fry.  Friday, February 8 marks the start of the annual fish fry season.  Luckily, the Pittsburgh Catholic Newspaper has a complete list of local fish fries.  So, I am on a quest to find out who has the best fried fish in Pittsburgh – please share your favorites – I would like to try to feature a different fish fry each week.

Check out the Post-Gazette’s article on Fish Fries here.

Best Fish Fry – Oakmont @ St. Irenaeus Church in the ultra-hip Fr. Wm. Blough Hall on Maryland Ave., just one-half block form Allegheny River Blvd. and the Post Office.
They have baked, fried and shrimp, and the best haluskie, slaw and mac and cheese – oh, and killer fries – dinner includes drinks (Beer for a buck) and dessert. From our lips to God's ears, the best!!

“Up Over Jimmys” on Smithfield St. in downtown Pittsburgh is one of the best I’ve ever found.

    I’d give it a 12 on a 1 to 10 scale. lol

You have to take a trip to St Joan of Arc Chruch located on RT. 88 in South Park, Pa. They have a great dinning area with round tables and china dishes but the best part is the fish selections.

St. Valentine, Bethel Park….by far the best. most options, beer battered with a little catholic love. But expect to wait, I’m not the only one that thinks it is the best!
