Where is the Best Bar to Watch the Steeler Game in Pittsburgh?

I have been asked this question more than once and I just don’t have a great answer.  There are lots of bars in Pittsburgh and if they have a TV, you can pretty much bet you can watch the game there. But, there are alot of factors that go into making it a great game day location – the menu, the beer selection, the crowd – I know it was standing room only at Buffalo Blues last Sunday as the crowd was literally spilling out on the the street.

I just got an email from Jennifer, who runs the Bottlebrush Gallery in Harmony, Pa (just a short drive up 79N – they have an awesome selection of art and gifts from local artists too).  She has a friend who will be visiting Pittsburgh this weekend and asked about a good place to watch the game.  By the way – you can now show the Bottle Brush Gallery online – so if you can check out all of their items from your computer – http://shop.bottlebrushgallery.com. UPDATED 9/15 – Added Mullaney’s Harp and Fiddle in the Strip District.

We have been doing a lot of talk about best places to watch the Steelers outside of Pittsburgh – new places are being added to the Steeler Bar Map daily! But we wanted to find out where Pittsburghers in Pittsburgh watch the game. Here are the suggestions we have recieved:

Bellevue

Millvale

Lawrenceville

  • The Thunderbird Cafe – Robert says “The Thunderbird (in Lawrenceville) is a cool place with a good beer selection, a friendly crowd and a huge projection screen to watch on. Good times.”
  • Round Corner Cantina – Christina says “their kitchen opens tonight too! Mexican food, yummy cocktails + Stillers = <3 <3”

Mt. Washington

Station Square

South Side:

Greenfield

East Liberty

  • AVA – Sarah says “AVA for the taco wings”

Shadyside

Bloomfield

  • Matt says “anywhere in Bloomfield, especially at Captain Bloomfield’s sidewalk living room in the 4500 block of Liberty Ave”
  • Nico’s Recovery Room – Henry says “I dont live in the burgh anymore, but Nico’s recovery room is defiantly the best place to go in the EastEnd. For one thing you get to whatch the game whist rubbing elbows with people that have been fans since the iron curtain days, and there’s the free Isaly’s BBQ sandwiches (or other regionally appropriate fare) free at the half!”

Strip District

Greensburg

Greentree

Best Steelers Bars – Help Me Put Them on the Map!

Steeler Fans RepresentImage by drewesque via Flickr It is the start of football season and that means Steelers fans will gather together around the world. Where do you go to watch the Steeler Games?  What bar has the best tvs?  What bar has the best crowd?

Please share your favorite Steelers bars -in Pittsburgh or beyond – I know there is a group of people that gather in a bar just outside of Jacksonville, FL and I am counting on Friend of IheartPGH who lives in Honolulu to send pictures of the Hawaiian Steelers Bar.  I will add them all to this newly created Official Looking Steeler Bar Map.
