startup-weekend-pittsburghI’ll keep this short since it’s no secret that I love Startup Weekend– if you’re interested in entrepreneurship and the tech scene at all, there’s no better way to get involved than jumping right in! Use code SWheartsPGH for 20% off.

The most recent Startup Weekend, hosted by Work Hard Pittsburgh, was a Civic-themed event held in September that focused on making impacts in our community.

We were due for a general-themed event open to all ideas, regardless of vertical or sector, so Startup Weekend Pittsburgh is coming this weekend!

For a quick recap, here’s what you can expect over the course of a Startup Weekend:

  • Pitch your brilliant idea, form a team, and work together to build something great
  • Meet some really smart, really motivated people and make valuable long-term connections
  • Learn from seasoned mentors who have built their own companies and know what it takes
  • Develop new skills and expand your talent set
  • Actually build the foundations of company. Market validation, business modeling, prototyping, development– it all happens over the course of 54 hours
  • Have all your meals covered, and plenty of celebration beer on Sunday

If you can’t make it for the whole weekend, we also have tickets for just the Friday and/or Sunday night pitches. It’s a perfect way to get a feel for what a Startup Weekend is like, without committing for the whole weekend.

Help My StartUp Weekend Team

This weekend is the 2nd Pittsburgh StartUp Weekend – teams have 72 hours to create a business.  The fun starts on Friday night and teams work all day Saturday and Sunday – the weekend concludes on Sunday evening with presentations to judges.

If you would like to attend and see the final presentations on Sunday afternoon – Tickets are still available here.

My team has created a business called InvenStory – the idea is a super simple app that lets you create an inventory of stuff you own.

WE NEED YOUR HELP – part of our presentation to the judges on Sunday is getting user feedback – if you could help us with any or all of the following by Sunday, September 23 at Noon – we would greatly appreciate your help.

  1. Take Our Survey  CLICK HERE to fill out a quick survey with what options you think would be most helpful
  2. Like the InventStory page on Facebook – http://www.facebook.com/myinvenstory
  3. Follow @myInvenStory on Twitter
  4. Let us interview you – Sunday AM – we would love to get your feedback on our idea – if you are in the East Liberty area – coffee and donuts on us!  email iheartpgh@gmail.com if you are available for an interview.
