[note] I would put this event down on my short list of interesting Pittsburgh events that more people should know about. [/note]
If you like to make things and are looking for some unique fabric and craft supplies this event is not to be missed. Each year, usually one of the first Saturdays in April, for a few hours, the Salvation Army takes over the Home Economics Building at the South Park fair grounds for a massive sale

Last week I posted about Paul Nosa’s Sewing Tour project on Kickstarter. Paul is an artist based in Tuscon, AZ who is planning to travel across the country with his solar and bike powered sewing machine.
I posted about the project because the video is awesome (check out the video here) AND he is bringing the tour to Pittsburgh. The first Kickstarter project didn’t reach funding – but he has relaunched the project on Kickstarter here. A few changes to the route – his first stop is Pittsburgh!
Check out his video update here.
“Stichers” is a one night event highlighting the creative work of five local sewing artists at Future Tenant gallery. Come investigate the artistic process of Sewing from the vantage point of Vontinka (Jennifer Bailey), Jessica Bailey, Joseph Martin, Suz Pisano, and Generator (Garret Chaney). Enjoy refreshments, music, and a boutique with items for sale by the artists. There will also be sewing machines on site for anyone to try their hand at sewing.
