Share Your PGH Photos HERE!

yourphotoshere

You may have noticed a new look for IheartPGH recently – we are trying to make the site easier to use and easier to find more information that you might be looking for about Pittsburgh.  We have long wanted to show off more great pictures of this fine city!  The front page here and the side bar are now displaying photos from the IheartPGH Flickr Group.  If you are a Flickr user please join the group and share your photos!  Currently the box on the front pages displays the most recent photo – I am trying to find a way to have it display a slide show and include more information about who took the photo too.

If you have any other ideas on how we can improve IheartPGH please share or if you are a webdesigner who would like to help us with a new wordpress theme we would love to talk to you too!

The Steel City is Ready for the Super Bowl

The Steel City is Ready for the Super Bowl, originally uploaded by IheartPGH.This is a great picture. The statue outside of the City County Building on Grant Street is ready for the Super Bowl.I am not able to make it downtown to the cage the cards rally today but one of the IheartPGH field reporters sent this picture to me. Have a great picture of Steelers fans or Steelers gear – send them to me info@iheartpgh.com or post to the IheartPGH Flickr group – http://www.flickr.com/groups/iheartpgh/

Mr. Rogers, Nancy Reagan and Jimmy Carter – Pictures of the Pittsburgh Quilt

Official White House photograph of Nancy Reaga...Image via WikipediaWhat do Mr. Rogers, Nancy Reagan and Jimmy Carter have in common? They all signed the Pittsburgh Quilt along with Ronald Reagan, Mr. McFeely and 30,000 other Pittsburghers back in 1988. (Never did I think I would have a reason to write about Nancy Reagan on IheartPGH).

Over the summer I wrote about the Pittsburgh Quilt which had been lost in the storage archives for the past 19 years. While I was writing about the quilt, which I had also forgotten about I couldn’t find one picture of it on the internet. So I headed out to the show to see for myself and to take some pictures so that it would have a home on the internet. The quilt was more impressive than I had imagined and I posted a few pictures from the Quilt Show here.

I have finally uploaded the rest of my pictures from the day to Flickr. Click here to see the pictures on Flickr or watch the slide show below.

Get Out Your Santa Suit!

December 8 is Santaarchy 2007. I love this event. Natalia post this event on IheartPGH way way back in 2005 (2 years seems like a long time in blog time). I am always thrilled to see it return each year.

A while back a group of people in San Francisco went out drinking dressed in Santa Suits. Thus began Santarchy. Now people all over the world get together for an evening (or afternoon) of drinking dressed as Santa. It is Santa fun for grown ups. And yes there are Santarchy’s all over the world. Check out the calendar located at Santarchy.com – on December 8 – there will be Santarchy’s in
*PITTSBURGH, PA, USA
*CARDIFF, WALES
*CHICAGO, IL
*HOUSTON, TX
*PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA
*and like 15 other cities

I love it when people are doing the same thing in Pittsburgh and Phnom Penh on the same day.

The Pittsburgh Santarchy will start at 2:00pm at the fountain in the South Side Works on Saturday, December 8, 2007.

In my attempt to find amazing pictures to illustrate each of these posts I discovered this picture on Flickr. I have no idea who these people are but I am glad they are sharing this picture. Apparently they met this Santa somewhere where it is warm and that this guy participates in the Pittsburgh Santarchy!

Thanks to Flickr member OhBurner for sharing this picture on Flickr. I love this picture because I just spent some time in Honolulu for turkey day (visiting Pittsburgh friends) and was wondering how Santa handles the warm weather.

Click here for some great pictures from Pittsburgh Santarchy 2006.

I think there is even a picture of the great Golf Cart Santa!
