Steelers at the Shadow Lounge

One of the best parts of living in Steeler Country is watching the game with other Steelers fans.  Even if you are not a die hard football fan, Sundays in Western, PA are meant to be spent with others.  The Shadow Lounge will be opening their doors in time for the game each Sunday – you can watch the black and gold on the big big screen in the Blue Room at the Shadow Lounge.

BIG SOCIAL

Big Brothers Big Sisters BIG SOCIAL.  I have a friend who volunteers with Big Brothers Big Sisters and raves about it.  The Big Social is an easy way to learn more about the Big Brothers Big Sisters program here in Pittsburgh.

If you ever thought about volunteering as a mentor, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Pittsburgh is hosting a bash with you as the guest of honor. After a long day at work, let loose and enjoy a live DJ, food and cocktails as you network and talk about what mentoring is like with current Big Brothers and Big Sisters in the Pittsburgh area. There is no obligation needed. Just consider it an excuse to have fun.

After the Party, Its the After Party

If you asked me what was the most fun Saturday night I had last year – it was, hands down the Hot House After Party at the Shadow Lounge. Hot House is the Sprout Funds big big annual fundraiser (see my write up about Hot House here). The Shadow Lounge is one of the best bar/club/lounge in Pittsburgh. Locally owned by The Justin Strong, Shadow Lounge is dedicated to making the neighborhood and Pittsburgh a better place.

Last years after party included a performance by Eviction Notice which was one of the most fun bands I have had the chance to see.

This years line up:

  • Revolver newest band from one of the members of Eviction Notice.
  • An All-Female Showcase featuring Vanessa German, Kellee Maize, Shani Banerjee, dj shorty rock and more!

Hot Times in the City

The Sprout Fund hosts their annual fundraiser on Saturday, August 25. Hot House is hot times in the city. This is one of THE BEST events I have attended in Pittsburgh. The Sprout Fund is the group behind many a cool project in Pittsburgh – remember those big inflatable sculpture from last summer – all part of the Sprout Fund’s public arts initiative.

This party shows off a variety of the people and projects that the Sprout Fund has supported over the past year. It is definitly worth the $40 ticket price.
Attend for Free! The Sprout Fund is looking for volunteers to help with the event before and during the party. If you volunteer you can attend for free.

Food and drinks from tons of different restaurants and perfomances by tons of local artists, including…
