The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron?

Nope sorry, not a post about Men vs. Women, not on this blog.  The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron? is a play. A funny play that ist at the City Theater for a few more days.  I recently watched a few episodes of VH1’s The Pick Up Artists at the gym.  I was laughing so hard I almost fell off the treadmill.  So I thought this play looks like a good time.

The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron? Now playing at City Theatre thru August 25 Wednesdays – Fridays at 8pm Saturdays at 5:30pm. In The Male Intellect: An Oxymoron?, a regular guy tries to figure out what women really want after he gets dumped by his girlfriend. He looks from right brain to left, and when self-help books don’t actually help, he consults five dubious role-models: a French lover, a fast-talking jerk, an old fisherman, a Southern-fried Colonel, and a bone-headed tough-guy. This hit comedy ultimately celebrates the difference between the sexes with non-stop laughter.

PodCamp Pittsburgh is back for a 2nd year.  I had a great time learning about all things web at the first PodCamp Pittsburgh.  PodCamp Pittsburgh is a FREE UnConference for anyone who want to learn more about blogs, podcasting and video casting.  I was a little afraid that UnConference meant unorganized but I have to say that last years PodCamp Pittsburgh is by far one of the best conferences/workshops I have ever attended.

If you don’t know what a podcast is or you have your own podcast there is something for everyone.  There will be some podcasting and blogging experts from around the country and some local pod celebrities as well.  Everyone last year was extreamly friendly and the conference is pretty laid back.

Check out PodCampPittsburgh.com for a complete schedule of activites and to sign up.

What: PodCamp Pittsburgh

3 Courses for $30 with a side of Lights

If you have not made a trip downtown after dark I don’t know what you are waiting for. There is an AWESOME light display being projected on 5 different buildings downtown.

Even better, next week is Pittsburgh Restaurant Week (Mon-Thurs) – participating restaurants are offering a 3 course meal for $30.

This is all part of the Pittsburgh Celebrates Glass! I don’t really know what dining has to do with glass, but this is a great idea and a great way to check out some of the top chefs in Pittsburgh.

Visit www.PittsburghCelebrates.org for an updated listing of all participating Restaurant Week restaurants.

Here are my top picks from the list:

  • Nine on Nine, Downtown – I haven’t been there yet but I have heard rave reviews, so this seems like a good time to check this place out.
  • Kaya, Strip District – Everyone needs a little bit of Caribean this summer
  • Six Penn Kitchen, Downtown – Located right in the middle of everything and I LOVE the pretzel appetizer and the roof top bar.
  • Bonna Terra, Sharpsburg – Chef Douglas Dick was named 2007 Chef of the Year and they are know for using local ingredients

Just a quick reminder to check before you go because some of these places are closed on Monday.

Which ones would you recommend and why?

Drinking Green at Bossa Nova

Green Drinks is a national an international, monthly gathering of people who are interested in all things green (green as in environmentally green, not the color green, but I am sure there are gatherings for that too.)

Pittsburgh has a very active Green Drinks group that meets the 3rd Friday of every month.

The host for June is Braddock’s Mayor John Fetterman

John Fetterman will share with us his new launch in converting the Mon Valley’s steelmaking heart into the Greenest Place in the Pittsburgh area by converting the Enterprise Zone into a Green Enterprise Zone. In addition to his unique economic development approach, his sustainable methods include reuse of existing structures as major agents of economic conversion for his community.
