Puppet Making Workshop

December 16, 2017 @ 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Giant Puppet Parade Workshop
Join Puppetmaker Cheryl Capezzuti and her crew to make giant puppets to wear and carry in the First Night Pittsburgh Parade on New Year’s Eve. This Pittsburgh New Year’s Eve tradition is an artist-made, people-powered giant puppet event that takes place between 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm on New Year’s Eve in downtown Pittsburgh. All ages are invited to this workshop where we will build and papier-mâché our own puppets for the event. Dress to get messy and have fun!

About Cheryl Capezzuti
Capezzuti has been making giant puppets in Pittsburgh for over 20 years. Since 1998 her puppets have been included in the First Night Pittsburgh Parade which started as a dozen puppets and a band and today features about 300 puppets, five bands, Art Cars, fancy pedicabs and more. In addition to her work as the Creative Director for First Night Pittsburgh she is also an award-winning art teacher at Falk Lab School, a puppeteer with her company Fuzzy Boundary Productions and a founding member of Pittsburgh’s only giant puppet Zumba dance team.
