About the film:
Based on Marjane Satrapi’s graphic novel, a young girl comes of age during the Iranian Revolution and witnesses first hand how the new Iran has become a repressive state. Marjane (Marji) refuses to remain silent in the face of this injustice and is sent by her parents to study in Vienna for the chance at a better life. This move, however, proves difficult for Marji as she struggles to find her place as a young woman in a different culture and simultaneously struggles with her connection to the place she calls home.
