Drop Spindle Basics (beginner)

September 24, 2017 @ 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Scholars estimate our ancestors were twisting short, weak fibers together to make long, strong string between twenty to thirty thousand years ago. Our tools are a little newer but the principle is the same! Continue the legacy and join us for a short introductory class about using a drop spindle to spin woollen fibers into yarn! The drop spindle is by far the most affordable and space-efficient way to begin the practice of spinning. Wool and a selection of spindles will be provided, and you’ll get to take your spindle home with you!

Locally sourced wool roving from Ross Farms will be provided for use in class. Additional roving may be purchased for $10, payable to instructor.

Class fee: $30
Materials: $10 (including a spindle to take home!)

Taught by Lauren Sims, http://www.steelcityfiber.com/about-us/people/instructors/
