11am – REVOLTING RHYMES FAMILY SCREENING
Kids 12 and under are free, tickets for kids 12+ and adults are just $5! We’ll be raffling off brand new DVDs of this animated film.
Based on the much-loved children’s book written by Roald Dahl and illustrated by Quentin Blake, Revolting Rhymes takes the classic fairy tales of Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, The Three Little Pigs, Jack & the Beanstalk and Cinderella, then mixes them together and serves them with a mischievous twist.
2pm – SILENTS, PLEASE! SPIES (1928) with live electronic score by LIFE SIZE REPLICA. We’ll be raffling off DVDs of the new restoration from Kino Video.
As part of our monthly silent film series with live musical accompaniment, we are pleased to present SPIES with a live electronic score presented by Life Size Replica, a supergroup of Pittsburgh’s most talented Avant-garde musicians! Richard Nicol, Alexi Morrisey, Michael Johnsen, and Jake Lexso all team up to provide the soundtrack to the film.
Previously seen in the U.S. in a severely truncated form, Fritz Lang’s elaborate superspy thriller is at last restored to its proper length.
5pm – TURN IT AROUND: THE EAST BAY PUNK STORY
We’ll be raffling off t-shirts, hats, and pins from the film.
The film spans over 30 years of the California Bay Area’s punk music history with a central focus on the emergence of Berkeley’s inspiring 924 Gilman Street music collective. Directed by Corbett Redford, narrated by Iggy Pop and executive produced by Green Day, Turn It Around: The Story of East Bay Punk is a sprawling telling of this vibrant story, drawing from a wide variety of voices and viewpoints and featuring the music of many of the most famous and infamous punk bands ever.
