Just wanted to spread the word about this raffle for a signed Sidney Crosby Jersey – the raffle benefits Ray Caruso who was recently injured in an accident but thankfully is on his way to recovery.

The winning number will be chosen on October 31st based on  PA Daily Lottery 3 digit number drawn at 7 pm
Ticket are available at Wildcard – located at 4209 Butler St. in Lawrenceville

All proceeds will benefit Ray Caruso, and be used for payment of medical bills and for the support of Ray and Brandon (his 7 year old son) while he is unable to work. In a freak accident, Ray fell backwards and suffered a severe head injury. He’s without medical insurance and has been hospitalized since late August. Continue reading

Sportsnuts 4-on-4 Co-ed Sand Volleyball Tournament

In case you haven’t noticed, Pittsburgh is a sports town.  Pittsburghers are and not just  serious about watching sports- but playing sports too.

Thanks to one of our Facebook fans for letting us know about this upcoming Sand Volleyball Tournament.  For me, just the word volleyball evokes bad memories of grade school gym clasess – but I know that there are a number of people who love volleyball.

The Sportsnuts Meet Up Group is organizing their first  4-on-4 Volleyball Tournament for this Saturday.  It looks like this group organizes other leagues too – the meet up page links to a roller-hockey league and a cornhole/beanbag league. Continue reading

Meet the Stanley Cup, Share Your Stanley Cup Replica Photos

From April 1-4, 2010 the Stanley Cup will be on display at the Heinz History Center in the Strip District.  Included in the price of general admission you an visit the Sports Museum and even have your photo taken with the Stanley Cup.  The Museum will have extended hours during this weekend.
