Glass in the Garden

Phipps Conservatory is more fun than you remember. $20 gets you in to the groove, 3 drink tickets, tasty food. The garden is even groovier this summer as Phipps hosts the Dale Chihuly exhibit. Dale who? Dale Chihuly is a glass artisit. I have had the privilege of checking out some of Chihuly’s amazing glass sculptures when visitng my grandparents a few years ago. Chihuly sculptures are found all around the world and are currently on display at Phipps.

Hi Lindsay,

I Love Pittsburgh . I mean I really love Pittsburgh – so much so that my friends recently told me about you and your site.

I really love reading that other people “really love Pittsburgh” – thanks for sending the love.

This writer goes on to suggest

  1. Offer a box on your site that flashes daily quotes from folks on why “they love Pittsburgh . I think that that would generate lots of interesting stories like mine.

Which is a great idea because I would like to read why you really love Pittsburgh – send your Pittsburgh love our way – info – at – IheartPGH.com.

Bringing Bacon Back

We have blogged about this before (TGIB, November 2005).  I was just back at the Harris Grill last week enjoying their amazing establishment …

  • delightful outdoor seating
  • delicious food – I heart baby burgers
  • tasty beer
  • delightful fire pit in winter – I hope you will bring this back again this fall
  • super fun people who work there – my server Matt last week could not have been nicer

But there is another reason to love this place, no it is not the awesome pictures on the menus (I hope someday that can be me), or the frozen cosmos (love those too).

I was able to confirm that indeed, every Tuesday is still BACON NIGHT.  Thats right kids, free baskets of bacon at the bar.  I think there is a $1 charge to enjoy your bacon outside.  I think you will agree $1 is a small price to pay for bacon with your beer on the patio.

The Union Project continues their monday evening series Dollars & Sense.

Stop by this Mondasy, July 9, to learn about planning and saving for your first house – yes, you too can buy your very own Pittsburgh homestead. This week’s presentation will be feature the good folks from Dwelling House Savings and Loan (a super community oriented band here in Pittsburgh).

I was there two weeks ago for a crash course in budgeting, met some super nice people and dined on some tasty snacks from the Union Project Cafe.
