Of course it is from Pittsburgh! According to the YouTube comments this commercial has been running since 1982.
I was thinking that I had not seen this commercial on TV yet this holiday season. A quick search of YouTube solved that. Eat N’Park’s Public Relations has even put together a schedule of when the commercial will air if you want to watch it on real TV.

It turns out that The Vogues, a pop/rock group from the 1960s who are famous for the songs
- Turn Around, Look at Me
- Five O’clock Word – which was included in the soundtrack for the movie Good Morning, Vietnam
got their start right here in Pittburgh. The Vogues was founded by four friends who met in high school. In 2001 The Vogues were inducted into The Vocal Group Hall of Fame.

IheartPGH has the inside scoop on this new documentary that is uniquly Pittsburgh…
Chris Ivey, a film maker who travels the world making documentary films, but lives right here in Pittsburgh has just released some clips for his latest and greatest project – ZombieTown, USA. ZombieTown USA is a documentary film about Zombie movie fans here in Pittsburgh. The documentary features some clips with major film industry people who have visited Pittsburgh to visit the original ZombieTown.
Pittsburgh is considered the birthplace of horror films. In 1968, George Romero, who attended Carneige Mellon University shot his first Zombie film Night of the Living Dead, which has become a cult classic here in Pittsburgh and has continued to film horror films here since then.
Pittsburgh Fun Fact – One of the first film projects that Romero worked on was Mr. Rodger Neighborhood.

Fun Fact: Warhol on MTV
Did you know that Andy Warhol had a tv show on MTV in 1986? Last week I was working on creating this t-shirt. (Visit WashableWisdom.com for the story behind the quote.)
A visit to Wikipedia’s entry on Andy Warhol and I learned that Warhol had a show, Andy Warhol’s Fifteen Minutes, on MTV. Cool and kind of unexpected. I couldn’t find anything else about the show online. Does anyone remember seeing the show? Are there any clips on the show online?
Looking for some Pittsburgh wisdom
I am looking for some ideas of wise Pittbsurgh sayings for t-shirts and other gift items. At Spreadshirt we are setting up a shop, Washable Wisdom, that sells t-shirts, hats, aprons and other items with wise sayings. Last week I was, once again, talking about how great Pittsburgh is, so we want to add a section to the shop for local wisdom. Of course, since Spreadshirt is in Pittsburgh, we will start with Pittsburgh. Does anyone know of any wise sayings that refer to Pittsburgh? Or any quotes of wisdom from famous Pittsburghers? Please share.
