Hug a Tree for Pittsburgh

I missed this when it appeared a few months back, but there was a story on Treehugger.com about the green initiatives at Pittsburgh’s new Children’s Hospital and the creation of the Pediatric Environmental Medicine Center. Treehugger is a great site for anyone interested in environmental news and problem-solving, and it’s great to see Pittsburgh getting some love for its treehugging innovations!

The PG is looking for your t-shirt stories

I saw this little post on the website for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette today. I thought this might be of interest to some of our blog readers. I am not sure if they are only looking for Pittsburgh stories or for stories from all over. I think I might submit my story about myIheartPGH t-shirt. I am looking forward to reading this article when it comes out.

Seeking Your Help: Your favorite T-shirt
Wednesday, January 17, 2007
Every favorite T-shirt usually comes a with good story on why it’s so special to you. Maybe you were wearing it when you met your future spouse. Or you got it at the best concert you ever attended. Or it’s from a special reunion. No matter how old or how tattered, you’ll never give it away. We’d like to hear your stories about your favorite T-shirts. Please send your reflections to Virginia Linn at vlinn@post-gazette.com. Include your name, home town and daytime phone number.

I received this in an email from the folks at VisitPittsburgh.  It is pretty cool that Pittsburgh ranked 3rd in AmericanStyle Magazines top Arts Cities.

Help Pittsburgh Be Recognized as TOPS IN THE ARTS!

Think Pittsburgh is a contender in the world of art? VisitPittsburgh thinks so and AmericanStyle magazine wants to hear from you.

The monthly arts magazine has opened its official balloting process to identify the Top 25 Arts Cities in the United States . In 2006, Pittsburgh ranked third in the magazine’s 9th annual Top 25 Arts Destinations Readers’ Poll. (Pittsburgh has appeared four times since the poll’s inception.)

If you agree that Pittsburgh is indeed among the Top 25 Arts Destinations (this year listed by market size-Pittsburgh is in the mid-tier group), we encourage you to go to www.AmericanStyle.com and cast your vote by clicking to the right side of the home page on the red, white and blue TOP 25 ARTS DESTINATIONS.

You can choose additional markets too but, remember, a vote for them works against your vote for Pittsburgh !

Be prepared to state why you think Pittsburgh is a top arts destination.

Hurry! All Ballots received now will be entered to win a $500 airline travel certificate from AmericanStyle.

Forward this to your friends and family and help recognize Pittsburgh as Tops in the Arts!

The De-”h”-ification of Pittsburgh???

“We’ve got Fort Pitt. We made it (Pittsburgh) grow, it’s a wonderful place now, and you took away our h. Who the h*** are you”?

Ever look at old maps, from around the turn of the last century, and wonder where our h went? Well, I don’t know if many of you iheart-ers know this story, but I heard this on morning today. Thought I’d share (go 2 mins into the radio stream if you don’t want to hear the setup). Btw, Roger Kruwlich is a great storyteller if you’re interested in listening to his other pieces.
