Basketball Benefit

Watched enough basketball recently? You are eager to go out and shot some hoops yourself? This is the event for you. Stop by the Hoops for Hope event on Saturday and join a basketball game to benefit the Children’s Home of Pittsburgh. Last year over 300 people attended the event.

Meet the League

I just wanted to share this invitation to meet the PA League of Young voters.  I have had the honor of meeting their national director, Billy Wimstat, on a number of occasions.  Billy is passionate, creative and dedicated to getting more people, young people involved in the political process.  I am now the Pittsburgh rep to the League of Young Voter’s national council.
Pittsburgh’s own Khari Mosley has worked to establish Pittsburgh as a major hub for the League of Young Voters.  Billy, Khari and all of the folks at The League are doing an amazing job of using technology, arts and hard work to bring more people into the political process.  Even if you aren’t “in to politics” this is one fun group of people.  The League of Young Voters, is not just young people, I promise there will be people of all ages there.  I highly recommend you stop by and say hello and check out what they are up to.

MARGARITAS IN MARCH

Just when I was about to say that there is not much happening in Pittsburgh right now, poof, tons of emails about cool events. I heart margaritas. Check out this cool event at the Union Project

Join Union Project On March 23rd 7-10pm, to highlight Pittsburgh’s connection with the Latin American cultures and its historical roots in glass arts and production, this happy hour will feature both a live mariachi band and
hand crafted glasswork. In participation with Pittsburgh Celebrates Glass! 2007 and in partnership with Global Beats and Pittsburgh’s Latin American Cultural Union,

and in honor of Mexico’s heroic Benito Juarez, Miguel Latino Moods, Pittsburgh’s signature mariachi band will fill
Union Project’s Great Hall with energetic music. Attendees enjoy hand-blended margaritas and networking throughout the evening for $5. Local handmade margarita glasses will be on display and available for purchase.

Pittsburgh is hosting the first ever Craft Congress this month. That means that all of the amazing people that organize craft fairs all over the US (like Handmade Arcade) are coming here to Pittsburgh to talk craft, and see that Pittsburgh is crafter heaven (DO NOT miss the Salvation Army Fabric Fair).
There is a big party that is open to the public, if you craft, like to buy crafts or like crafty people then you should attend.

I need to try these

Why didn’t someone tell me about this sooner. I know that cupcake lovers and beer lovers read this blog. But I had to read it in the East End Brewing Newsletter. Cupcakes made with beer?!? AWESOME!

WOULD YOU LIKE SPRINKLES ON THAT PINT?
Black Stout makes a great cake – something East End Growler Customers learned back in December, with the introduction of Black Strap Stout Baking Mix in the brewery’s ever expanding gift shoppe. (Ok, so it’s
really just a “shop”… actually, it’s more like a shelf – or I should say “shelfe”?)
But like a wise man once said, “All that mixing can be really exhausting”. So we’ve worked out a way to save you the trouble… DOZEN is a new cupcake shop at Forbes and Murray in Squirrel Hill, and they’re introducing the BLACK STRAP STOUT cupcake this month, and featuring SIX PACKS of these little baked delights for
St. Patricks Day. BE SURE to tell them you heard about them from that guy at East End Brewing, and they might just bring some over for Growler Hours next week! http://dozencupcakes.com/

I think we may need to organize an IheartPGH cupcake party…
