Public Art Gets into Google Maps

Google Street ViewImage via WikipediaThanks to Laura without Labels for blogging about this project today. Pittsburgh is one of those cities on Google Street View – basically google drove around the city taking panoramic photos of allmost every street and used fancy computer technology to stitch those photos together – you can drive down a street and check out a 360 view from the comfort of your own computer.

Well thanks to Roin Hewlett & Benn Kingsley’s Street With a View project there is a lot more to see on the Google Street View of Sampsonia Way – earlier this year they staged a scene for the street view photos.

Now when you take a tour of Sampsonia Way on Google Street view you will see all sorts of things from a giant chicken, to a parade with the Langly high school marching band.
