Yesterday, I opened up my email to find one with the subject help – I opened the email thinking maybe it was a request to post an event or recommend a neighborhood – but this is a big request…
Subject: help
Dear IheartPGH,
Needed an awesome idea and figured you were the best person to turn to.
I want to figure out the coolest way to propose to my girlfriend in Pittsburgh. I’ve Googled a bunch of stuff, taking out billboards, renting a limo etc. I really wanted to figure out if it were possible to have dinner and propose …
I have received a few emails to IheartPGH over the past few years and I try to reply with helpful answers to all of them – but this is a big one and I have no experience with marriage proposals – I am totally flattered you thought to email me. If you are looking for advice on where to eat lunch for less than $5 (pretzel Shop) or best coffee (La Prima) or where can I find a bar with the largest taxidermy collection (Joe’s Bar, Ligonier) – I can help with that. The prefect Pittsburgh marriage proposal – not my area of expertise!
With his permission (and I promised to keep him anonymous so that it is a surprise,) I am posting this request to see what you dear readers of IheartPGH can suggest.
I did a little blog research on marriage proposals, thus far no one has blogged a Pittsburgh engagement story. Plenty of people have blogged about their engagement stories – Sean Bonner, one of the founders of Metroblogs, proposed over Twitter (read her side of the story here). Their story was also covered by Boing Boing and Wired covered some other Tweetheart stories here. I am sure that you can do better than this suggestion of proposing by instant message, from Engagement-ideas.com (yes that blog exists). We are not necessarily looking for geeky proposal ideas – this is about Pittsburgh proposal ideas.
So please leave your suggestions and ideas here in the comments – if you have a great Pittsburgh engagement story – please share that too. If you would prefer to send your ideas by email – please email info@iheartpgh.com and I will forward all of your ideas to the lucky guy. Continue reading →
