FREE Beer Tasting at Harris Grill with Founders Brewing

Four Of The Best Beers On Earth

We thought this might be of interest to Pittsburgh beer lovers.  Here is another great event from the folks at the Harris Grill – not only do they bring you bacon every Tuesday night – but they also host free beer tastings.

Founders Brewing Company Beer Tasting

Thursday, March 25 @ Harris Grill

7:00 — 9:00 PM

Think of this as a mini beer dinner, less formal than a plated dinner and more at your own pace. And it’s free! We’re pairing special, complementary appetizers with samples of their stellar beer lineup, plus there will be a special “mystery draft” on the board.

We’ll have representatives of Founders on-hand to meet and greet, and participants will receive discounts on Founders beers for the duration of their stay. No reservations, no charge. Did we mention ‘free’? It’s free.

$5 Movies and More!

Do you know about $5.00 Bargain Monday at the South Side Works Cinema? You should!

All day, every Monday, movie tickets to just about any film is $5. This includes new releases, so make sure you buy your tickets early to ensure your showing doesn’t sell out. Some restrictions apply, for instance, Sony Pictures films are not eligible for Bargain Monday pricing for the first 14 days of the release.

If you’re hungry after the show and you’d like to stick with the theme of Bargain Monday, stroll on down to Fatheads (1805 E. Carson St.) for wing night. Wings are 20 cents and you can get as many as you want, and feel free to mix and match flavors. Wing night specials are also available on Wednesday. Seasonal beers including Troeg’s Mad Elf and Great Lakes Christmas Ale are on tap at Fatheads right now.

Wing Night!

If you’re on the other side of the river, the AMC Loews Waterfront Theatre offers $5.00 showings all day, Monday through Thursday.

All this talk of movies making you hungry for popcorn? Make sure you print out your Popalot Card from Pittsburgh Popcorn Company for a free small bag of heavenly goodness after purchasing 9 bags of any size. Each week, both Pittsburgh Popcorn Company locations feature different flavors. One is usually seasonal and the other is a bit more non-traditional. Through December 3, 2009, the Strip District (209 21st St) store is featuring Gingerbread Cookie Corn and Spicy Southwest Cheddar. Through December 1, 2009, at the downtown (822 Liberty Ave) store, you can pick up Pumpkin Spice or Dill Pickle. If you feel like sharing the popcorn love, they ship nationwide!

A Very Special Turkey Bacon Night

This just in from the good bacon loving folks at the Harris Grill. In honor of Thanksgiving this Wednesday (Nov. 25, 2009) will be Turkey Bacon Night – the turkey bacon starts at 8pm. Since you will probably be out and about visiting with those old high school prom dates and reliving memories that you probably would prefer to forget, you might as well be doing that with some bacon, in this case Turkey bacon. Because there are quite a few people out there that believe that bacon makes almost everything better.

Porcine Pardon Punishes Poultry

We’re letting our little pink pals off the hook for a very special pre-T-Day Bacon Night on Wednesday, November 25. That’s right: for the first time ever, Harris Grill will be ladling out the Turkey Bacon on Wednesday night just to get you in the mood. Bring your out of town guests in for a specialtreat starting at 8:00 pm, when we’ll also have the effervescent Miller Light Girills pushing lip-chilling aluminum pounders of Shadyside’s favorite get-the-job-done Lite beer.

Seeking Shelter from the Family?

And another important public service announcement for those of you who need to escape from your families after 12 fun filled hours of cooking, cleaning and turkey eating. The Harris Grill will open at 9pm on Thanksgiving evening to provide shelter and drinks for those who have had a little too much family fun! (the photo below came up when I typed “Thanksgiving Fun” into Flickr – yes, I think those are cats dressed up for Thanksgiving).

Once you’re tired of all the family squabbling, swing on over to the Grill where we’ll be opening the bar at 9:00 pm to help you forget about the day. Dad’s just never gonna understand that surface piercing, but we’ll help you get over that.

Bring your bartender a plate of leftovers and get a free shot of Imperial!
