There are a ton of great things to do this weekend. But I am most excited about watching the Tour of PA. The Tour of PA is like the Tour de France, a huge professional bike race across the state of PA, part of this is in celebration of Pittsburgh’s 250. There are going to be 3 great opportunities to watch the racers enter the finish line and there are a ton of events to go along with the race.

I am including the race specifics – where to watch the start and finish below. Here is the short version with other activities included. Also check out the Trib’s Spectator Guide -which has lots of helpful info like what each color jersey means (via BikePGH).

One Pittsburgher's Trash, Is Another Pittsburgher's Treasure

It’s that time of year again… The Highland Park Community Yard Sale … the whole neighborhood puts their trash, I mean treasures outside for you to discover. I can’t seem to find a website for Highland Park, but the sale has been posted on Craigslist. Highland Park is filled with interesting people that have lots of interesting stuff to sell. The Primary Pittsburgh Project

The Primary Pittsburgh Project is a 5 day blogging project to highlight the best of what is happening in Pittsburgh across the blogs in Pittsburgh. It is kind of like bringing a little bit of I heart PGH to every blog in town. From wow until the Presidential Primary on April 22 – bloggers (and anyone – if you don’t have a blog that is okay) are invited to share their stories about why Pittsburgh and Western, PA is a great place to live, work, start a business.

I am also excited about the Primary Pittsburgh Project because it is an opportunity to get all sorts of bloggers to post around the same topic. The best analogy for this that I can think of is that it is like Oprah’s book club for blogging.

More Info: PrimaryPittsburgh.com

How you can help:

  • Have a blog? Write a post and share your favorite stories
  • Don’t have a blog? Write your story and send it to me (info@iheartpgh.com) We will post it on PrimaryPittsburgh.com
  • Attend our virtual event on Facebook – click here to RSVP.
  • Add the Primary Pittsburgh button to your blog, website, MySpace page.
  • Tell everyone you know.

Art, Activism & Equity Symposium

Thanks to Liz Perry for sending me the info about this event. I have had the good fortune to meet a number of the presenters. I am going to attend to hear Faythe Levine and Liz Perry’s presentation. I have had the opportunity to get to know Liz over the past 3 years – she is an absolute expert in blogs and new media and a great person to talk with. Liz is also one of the forces behind Pittbsurgh Signs Project (I will post more on that I promise).

Lots more info about this event is located here.

A quick list of reasons I think you should attend this event:

  • Guerrilla Girls – Liz Perry was raving about this group – it is my understanding they do all of their presentations in guerrilla suits.
  • Heather Arnet – she runs the Women and Girls Foundation and she is a great person to get to know
  • LUPEC – Ladies United for the Preservation of Endangered Cocktails – they have been improving drink knowledge around Pittsburgh for years now
