4401 Liberty (Shursave) Development Community Meeting
January 29, 2018 @ 6:30 PM - 8:15 PM
As a community-based nonprofit, Bloomfield Development Corporation seeks to promote transparency around local development projects. We do not do development ourselves, but rather host community meetings at which residents can learn more about development proposals, ask questions, and express their concerns. Property developers then have to show that they responded to this community feedback when they go before the City Zoning Board.
The developer of 4401 Liberty Avenue, Milhaus, is proposing a new building with approximately 220 market-rate rental units and 20,000 sq. ft. of first floor retail at 4401 Liberty Avenue. The parcel to be redeveloped currently holds the Shursave IGA grocery store, Veterans of Foreign Wars building, and one vacant residence, as well as a large parking lot and double billboard. The plot is bordered by Liberty Ave, Howley St, Gangwish St, and Ella St. Milhaus is seeking community support to proceed with this plan in advance of their zoning hearing.
As part of our ongoing community process for new developments, Bloomfield Development Corp. invites you to an open and public community meeting on Monday, January 29, 6:30 PM at the West Penn Hospital Nursing School (4900 Friendship Avenue, at the corner of Gross and Friendship) to hear a presentation from the development team and to ask questions.
Can’t make it to the meeting? Send your concerns or thoughts to christina@bloomfieldnow.org. After the meeting, very detailed notes taken during the meeting will be posted here. We encourage everyone who can’t make it to the meeting to read the notes and send us their opinions on the development that they present. We need to hear from as many people as possible.
If you have any questions, contact Bloomfield Development at David@bloomfieldnow.org or call 412-681-8800. An accessible entrance is located in the rear of the building. Do you need assistance getting to the meeting? Have a barrier keeping you from attending? Let us know and give us a chance to try to come up with a solution!
