Git Aht! – Things To Do This Weekend

(Things to do while being honest with the kids …)

Friday, March 9
Spring Feeva Happy Hour , 5:00 p.m., South City Tavern, Sahsside
The local chapter of meetin.org (see, it’s not like they left off the “G” by accident, it’s a whole play on words (ok, not really, but you know what I mean), where you put the name of your major metropolitan area after it. Y’know, like “Meet In Pittsburgh” or “Meet In New York” or “Meet In Wilmerding”. It’s another networking/social/hey baby how YOU doin’ thing, and they’re getting together to celebrate the dawning of a new season, as the year moves from the still silent death of the land that is Winter into the beautiful, glorious spiritual rebirth that is Spring. OR, they get together every now and again to booze it up. It’s probably the latter, because they look like fun people. Go join the local group and show up to booze, or just show up to booze and then join the site. Whichever.

Aid for AIDS: Multi-Cultural Performing Arts Fest , 8:00 p.m., The Rex, Sahsside
phatmandeeLindsay busted out with the premiere on this one, so go there and read about it.

Suffice to say, it’s a pretty good candidate for our “Drinking For A Cause” for the evening, and it’s hosted by The Glorious Phat Man Dee. ‘Nuff said.

Quick Hits For Friday:
“Helloooo Blawnox!” Blindsider plays Moondog’s in Blawnox…
Go to Mullaney’s in the Strip around 9 and get an answer to the question “Alice! Who the F#*k is Alice?!?”

Saturday, March 10
Joe Grushecky , 7:30 p.m., Club Cafe, Sahsside
JoeI don’t remember a time when Joe wasn’t playing a show. And I’m on the dark side of my mid-thirties. That’s how long he’s been around. Friend of Bruce gets thrown at Joe a lot, and that’s not a bad thing. Springsteen knows talent when he sees it (for reference, see his first wife) and Joe is a gifted songwriter and performer. it’s an early show, so there’s also still going to be plenty of time for gallivanting and/or traipsing around the South Side. Go up to Bar 11 afterwards. They’ve installed some sort of bamboo posts on the bar that are absolutely perfect for bashing your head against after you’ve had a few. I speak from immediate experience. Luckily, Rob has a helmet behind the bar if you need to borrow it. I suggest you do, as does does does does my Grade II mild traumatic brain injury with bonus anterograde amnesia.

The Dirty Ball , 8:00 p.m., 121 Ninth St., Dahntahn
I’m wondering how Juddy has any time to do any writing. Is he man or machine, man or superman? We may never know until he shuffles off this mortal coil and scientists have an opportunity to examine the innards. I ask because in addition to working Soulcialism and Deep Funk/Northern Soul and Pandemic and various gigs at Shadow Lounge, he’s DJing this event, a fundraiser for Attack Theatre, home of theater. And attacking. And game night.

They’ll have three dance performances sprinkled throughout the night, along with “Dirty Little Secrets, Dirty Martinis and Dirty Dancing”. Me, I like all three of those. Well, ok, not the dirty martinis per se, because I’d rather be drinking something that wouldn’t get the shit kicked outta me up in Polish Hill, but ok, fine, if you’re going, just be at one with the event and have a dirty martini, join in the spirit.

No word of any “Dirty Talk”, so we’ll just have to play that one by ear. If you are, however, interested in dirty talk and are a single female between the ages of 27 and 40, please feel free to send me an email to gitaht@gmail.com with “Yinz’re Gonna Do What Ta Me? Eww!” in the subject line and we’ll see that you receive a response in as timely a fashion as our current staffing level allows.

Sunday, March 11
Sunday Night Supper With Lauren , 6:00 p.m., Brillobox, Hipster Grahnd Zero (Penn n’ Main)
Three cheese mac n’ cheese. That is all I need to say about Sunday dinner ever.
