I am really excited to update you on the Steelers Watch Party for this weekend. To be honest I have avoided doing IheartPGH events – we tried one a few years ago – but someone else hired the worst DJ ever, the music was bad, people left, it was kind of a sad scene. But I am so happy that a bunch of bloggers are working together to put on a a fun event but to support a great Pittsburgh holiday project.
The folks from Chevrolet Pennsylvania who donated the Steelers tickets asked if we would help put together an event where people could check out some new Chevy cars – my first reply was yes – but could we make this more than just a test drive/watch the Steelers game – lets do something to support Pittsburgh.
For the past few weeks I have been following the emails from Sue Kerr who works forCHS – Community Human Services (she also writes the blog Pittsburgh Lesbian Correspondents and has organized the Pittsburgh Women’s Blogging Society) – she is putting together an amazing holiday gift card donation to benefit Pittsburgh families that CHS works with. CHS is a nonprofit that has been supporting Oakland and Pittsburgh for 40 years – they have a variety of programs to assist with homelesness, mental health, health issues in Pittsburgh.
Yesterday, Ginny wrote about the CHS project on That’s Church (read the full post here) and Sue has been posting non stop about all of the support the holiday project has recieved. But they still need more help.
So come on down to the Double Wide Grill on Sunday Night to watch the Steelers Game, Support CHS and test drive a Chevy.

More on Gift Card Donations:
This is from an email Sue sent to me about the CHS Holiday Programs
The best way for folks to help is to donate a gift card (or 2). It is really a win/win with double fuel perks and it gives us a lot of flexibility to meet specific requests. Many of our adults want a gift card so they can pick out items on their own (many ask for things like socks, bras and pants) and because they look forward to a shopping trip with staff — don’t underestimate how much a gift card can impact someone’s mental health for the better.
