The Pittsburgh Black Media Federation will host “American Heroes: The Homewood Project,” which honors 20 men who are recognized for their local leadership and service to Homewood.
PBMF will host a reception and unveil a photo series and multimedia piece recognizing local African-American heroes who have contributed to the economic, spiritual, social, educational and artistic vitality of Homewood.
The event also will include a community discussion on why local heroes matter and a celebration.

PBMF’s “American Heroes: The Homewood Project” is part of the Black Male Media Project, #InspireBlackMen, a nationwide effort launched by the National Association of Black Journalists in 2017 to inspire, support and develop training and mentorship opportunities for black men working in journalism and media and those who aspire to do so.
About 20 association chapters, including PBMF, are participating in the project.
