Please join us on October 19th at the BNY Mellon Innovation Center as we celebrate female entrepreneurs! The Invest in Her team read through 30 applications, conducted 14 interviews, and have identified 8 amazing businesses and women to pitch at this year’s competition.

Our finalists span a wide range of industries and experience. We are excited to present to you the following founders and businesses, we hope that you will come out and show your support!

Finalists include:

Diane Danforth: Americat Company provides American-made, environmentally friendly products for the felines in your life.

Katherine Schuler: Rolling Pepperoni sells pepperoni rolls and other delicious treats that feed hungry folks and connect culture in Pittsburgh and across Appalachia.

Theresa Baughman: FizzPop promotes self-love, positive body image and smashing the patriarchy by selling playful, subversive pop-culture accessories.

Debbie Maier Jacknin: Songbird Artistry sells handmade jewelry, knit items, screen printed apparel and Stained-glass mosaics as well as offers maker classes for adults and kids.

Mary Jane McCullough: Global Wordsmiths offers low-cost or no-cost, high-quality language translation and interpretation services in Western Pennsylvania.

Debralyn Woodberry-Shaw: ELIE Circle delivers trauma-informed care training to teachers, coaches and youth-serving professionals who don’t have social work or psychology backgrounds.

Erica Peterson: Moms Can: Code supports moms interested in learning how to code by offering opportunities to connect with other moms, learning resources and real life inspiration.

Laura Totin Codori: Worm Return is a one stop shop for environmentally friendly vemicompost, worms and education for the socially conscious gardener.

Doors open at 6:15PM. Pitches will begin promptly at 7:15PM. We will have a group of esteemed judges deliberate after everyone has pitched. All winners will be announced at the end of the night.
