Past Present Future: Western Pennsylvania’s People and Places
Past Present Future explores and celebrates the history, current moment, and future of photography in Pittsburgh. Spanning over 100 years of image making in the region, the exhibition features over 100 photographs and videos from more than 40 artists—including photographic icons of the mid-20th century like W. Eugene Smith, Esther Bubley, and Duane Michals, to contemporary artists making work throughout the region today. Through our partnership with Assemble and Silver Eye Fellowship 17 winner Francis Crisafio, Past Present Future also includes stunning self-portraits through photography and collage made by several young neighborhood artists.

Molly Steadman, a queer born-and-raised Pittsburgher, will be showcasing “But What Is One To Do?”, a collection of recent works, at Mixtape. The works, all created within the past year, deal with lesbian identity, addiction, recovery, heartache and healing, serving as a sort of visual diary documenting the first 365 days of a lifetime journey of recovery, and the pain, joy, loss, and strength that come along with it. Take a look at this intensely personal collection while enjoying Mixtape’s crafted cocktails (and excellent coffee, if that’s more your style). The artist will be present from 8-10pm.
