Walking Tour: Chatham Village
April 29, 2017 @ 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
THIS TOUR IS NOW SOLD OUT
In 1932, the Buhl Foundation turned 46 acres of land on Mount Washington into Chatham Village, a community with beautiful housing and moderate rent that laborers could afford. Named to honor William Pitt, the first Earl of Chatham, Chatham Village is a designated Historic Landmark that exemplifies how excellent planning and design can enhance communities. Join the Office of Public Art on a tour of Chatham Village with historic preservationist Angelique Bamberg. Enjoy the greenspace of the Village and the surrounding woodlands, while walking the paths around the picturesque townhomes.
The tour is limited to 30 participants and will begin at the community center (also known as the Bigham House) in Chatham Village. Please park in the alloted spots in front of the community center. If no spaces are available when you arrive, please park on the road near the community center. This tour is not wheelchair accessible. It is advisable that participants wear comfortable shoes.
