- Pittsburgh is the host city for World Environment Day – it is like the international version of Earth Day.
- As part of the celebration Pittsburghers will try to break the world record for number of canoes and kayaks on the water at once
- Saturday, June 5, 2010 – The rivers will be closed to boat traffic and filled with paddlers
- The current record is 1,104 boats
