Watched enough basketball recently? You are eager to go out and shot some hoops yourself? This is the event for you. Stop by the Hoops for Hope event on Saturday and join a basketball game to benefit the Children’s Home of Pittsburgh. Last year over 300 people attended the event.
I just wanted to share this invitation to meet the PA League of Young voters. I have had the honor of meeting their national director, Billy Wimstat, on a number of occasions. Billy is passionate, creative and dedicated to getting more people, young people involved in the political process. I am now the Pittsburgh rep to the League of Young Voter’s national council.
Pittsburgh’s own Khari Mosley has worked to establish Pittsburgh as a major hub for the League of Young Voters. Billy, Khari and all of the folks at The League are doing an amazing job of using technology, arts and hard work to bring more people into the political process. Even if you aren’t “in to politics” this is one fun group of people. The League of Young Voters, is not just young people, I promise there will be people of all ages there. I highly recommend you stop by and say hello and check out what they are up to.

Pittsburgh is hosting the first ever Craft Congress this month. That means that all of the amazing people that organize craft fairs all over the US (like Handmade Arcade) are coming here to Pittsburgh to talk craft, and see that Pittsburgh is crafter heaven (DO NOT miss the Salvation Army Fabric Fair).
There is a big party that is open to the public, if you craft, like to buy crafts or like crafty people then you should attend.

Every 3rd Thursday the Downtown Neighbors Association gathers for some neighborly conversation. This month join the DNA at the Sonoma Grill. All are welcome to attend. Cash bar, but appetizers will be provided. Even if you don’t live Downtown you are welcome to attend and meet up with some of the great people who do.
Look for John Valentine, he is the executive director of the DNA, and knowledgeable about all things downtown Pittsburgh. I just caught up with him on Friday and learned about some more of the great things that are happening downtown. I have know John for the past 2 years and I think he is one of the best people to talk about why Pittsburgh living is great.
