    Just when you think you have seen every possible fundraising idea ever, someone comes up with a new one. Some crazy, but kind souls in Pittsburgh are going to jump into the mon (Monongahela river) to raise money for the Circle C Youth and Family Services which is a great organization that has been supporting kids and families for over 40 years.   • Mardi Gras Celebration!

    I was getting a little worried that Pittsburgh had more Groundhog Daymardigras.jpg celebrations than Mardi Gras celebrations. Penn Brewery to the rescue. I was lucky enough to visit a fellow Pittsburgher in New Orleans for Mardi Gras a few years ago, before the flooding. It was definitely the biggest party I have ever attended. Mardi Gras, like Groundhog Day are holidays that need to be celebrated. So head on over to Penn Brewery for bead, beer and good music. I love the Boilermaker Jazz Band (check out the picture of the band performing in New Orleans) and I can only say good things about Dixie Doc and the Pittsburgh Dixieland All-stars. (more…)

  • Green $ense

    Reason number 298,679 to live in Pittsburgh – GREEN building. You may or may not know that Pittsburgh, which was once known as a very smoky city, is now a pretty green city. There are a ton of resources here for anyone that is interested in green building. I hope to one day do green renovations on old buildings. I love the idea of taking something old and making it greener and better. Thanks to the folks at the Green Building Alliance for sending the information about this conference. I think it will be a very informative event. (more…)
