2008 Checkpoint Zero Adventure RaceImage by mikebitton via Flickr

So this really says adventure – you sign up (deadline is April 30, 2009) with two friends and show up on race day (May 30, 2009). The course is a mystery until the race starts – the secret course includes treking, canoeing, biking and some mystery challenges and treasure hunts along the way. There are 3 divisions – coed, all female and all male.

Entry is $70/person and includes canoe, paddles, life jackets, t-shirts and a post race party.

I don’t know, sounds kind of challenging but pretty fun. What do you think?

The race is being organzied by REI and Urban Adventures which organizes similar races around the country.

Turns out Urban Adventure Racing is pretty popular – check out this blog which had quite a bit of info about races around the country – URBAD Racing. Check out Jonathan’s pictures from an Urban Adventure race in Pittsburgh last summer. Here is on local adventure racing – also some great pictures.

Let us know if you are going to enter so we can cheer you on!

You may also want to check out Urban Dare Pittsburgh, http://www.urbandare.com, which takes place on April 25. This is a team race where you solve clues to find checkpoints where you will take photos or perform dares. It's part trivia, part running, part challenges, and totally fun.

This race looks and sounds awesome – I never heard of it before. I am interested in it and hearing more – thanks for the info. Can I also post on my site (www.networkpittsburgh.com)?

@Bruce. I think it would probably be okay to post about the race on your site. I learned about it from the REI newsletter. What is networkpittsburgh.com? tell us more about it.

@Lindsay – I just launched networkpittsburgh.com – it is a networking site for Pittsburgh Professionals to share job leads, sales, to network within each other. Like Linkedin but specific to Pittsburgh

I have read about the Golden Spiral, the Golden Mean, etc. in composition guides. I always found it hard to apply them to photography without an overlay like this. The Rule of Thirds is certainly easier to include in software, but I have wanted to try some of the other concepts like the Spiral too. Now I can!masini de inchiriat
