Happy almost October!  Here is our weekly round up of events we share on WDVE – Fridays at 6:45 am.  Lots of great fall activities for Pittsburghers of all age.  This town has some great ways to put the FEST in Oktoberfest. Head of the Ohio 2009 – October 3, 2009

Image by Wugging Gavagai via Flickr 2009 is the 23rd Anniversary of Head of the Ohio Regatta. Crew teams from all over the country will be in Pittsburgh to row on the Allegheny River this Saturday. Races occur all day from 8 am to 4:30 pm. Food and festivities for the family will be available near PNC park. Head of the Ohio – Sat. Sept. 27, 2008

The Head of the Ohio is a regatta that attracts rowers and crew teams from all over the country to row on Pittsburgh’s rivers.  The Head of the Ohio has been held here in Pittsburgh since 1986.  In the past 2 years the race has been named one of the top 10 regattas in the country.  The Head of the Ohio website has a great history page which includes some info about the history of rowing in Pittsburgh.
