Are you between the ages of 21 and 28? You could be representing Pgh in Switzerland this Sept.

Yes, Switzerland! If I were just a few years younger! This might be the first time I was wishing I was younger -if I were younger I would be applying for this not blogging about it.

Here is the deal – the One Young World Summit was started in London in 2010 to bring together young leaders to address major global challenges.  Pittsburgh is the only US city that is being considered to host the summit in 2012.  So the folks at the World Affiars Council along with some other organizations (see list below) are sending a delegation of 5 Pittsburghers, ages 21-28 to the 2011 One Young World Summit in Zurich, Switzerland this September.

One Young World Pittsburgh Partnership wants to field a strong delegation at the 2011 Summit in Zurich. The World Affairs Council of Pittsburgh is coordinating with other southwestern Pennsylvania organizations to sponsor five delegates to attend the Zurich event. Candidates interested in applying must be between 21 and 28 years of age and should be affiliated with an area non-profit. Successful candidates will be team players who demonstrate leadership potential, and who have the ability to grasp complex concepts and provide valuable insights, as well as a commitment to cultural diversity. They should show an interest in global affairs and in helping define Pittsburgh’s place in the world.

The deadline to apply is June 30, 2011.

Application instructions are available here.

The One Young World Pittsburgh Partnership is a consortium of local companies, non-profits, and community organizations which are working together to bring One Young World to Pittsburgh in 2012. The founding partners include:

I have been at the August Wilson Center yesterday and today.  Oxfam and USCAN (US Climate Action Network) have set up a media center set up here – they are doing press briefings hourly on different topics. They have done a great job of providing info and photos and wireless to bloggers – we are a block from the convention center.

Check out the coverage at http://g20voice.org/ and photos here – http://www.flickr.com/photos/g20voice/sets/72157622449588322/

Here are some resources for following G20 activity here in Pittsburgh online
