School of Steelers Rock – Steelers Songs and Video

January 28, 2009 Lindsay

Image via Wikipedia I know that this video has been posted all over the web and these kids have been covered by the Post-Gazette but I wanted to post the video here in case you haven’t seen it yet. The Pop Rocks are a group of middle school kids who formed a group while attending a summer music camp at The Davis School of Guitar Performance which is located in Harmony, Butler County.  If you visit Harmony stop in and say hi to the folks who run the Bottlebrush Gallery located in downtown Historic Harmony. These kids have a great… Read the rest

Count Down to the Super Bowl

January 25, 2009 Lindsay

Image by daveynin via FlickrThere is a whole lot of reporting and blogging going on about the game next Sunday.  They are filled with Steeler and Pittsburgh love  Here are a few links that are worth a look… OneForTheOtherThumb.com – “These are the non-sensical ramblings of a man obsessed with the Pittsburgh Steelers.”  This is some serious  Steeler’s love.  Help him decide where he should watch the big game here. St. Petersburg Times article on the Steelers connection to Pittsburgh “Bond between Steelers, city unmistakable.” This sentance from the article sums it up… But the Steelers? They are Pittsburgh. Be a Fan of Steeler Baby on Facebook, Pittsburgh Fire Department and What to Do If Your Pipe Bursts

January 20, 2009 Lindsay

Image by jonbro via FlickrWell I am a little behind in celebrating Steelers fever here because I returned home on Saturday night to an indoor waterfall. 2 little cracks in a copper pipe less than a half inch can cause a lot of water to come through the ceiling. I want to post a few things about the frozen pipe situation because one of the first things I did after rescuing the computer from the rushing water was to google “pipe burst” and “pittsburgh emergency plumbers” and the results weren’t helpful. So after an hour of calling 24 hour plumbers… Read the rest

Blogski is blog speak for the Polish Hill Civic Association

January 19, 2009 Lindsay

Image via WikipediaThis week must be all about Polish Hill (see my post on the Polish Hill signs and read about my run in with the police here).  I would like to think I do a pretty good job of keeping track of Pittsburgh blogs but I just found this one today. Blogski is the website and blog for this Polish Hill Civic Assocaition and it is one of the best Neighborhood blogs I have seen.  Blogski has information about events, businesses and articles of interest to Polish Hill.   This is a great resource for all things Polish Hill and… Read the rest

I can still wish you a Merry Christmas!

January 6, 2009 Lindsay

Image by caseywest via FlickrIt has been a busy busy holiday season and I didn’t get a chance to post this video before December 25. But since today is technically Christmas – if you are Eastern Orthodox, then I can still write about Christmas. I even found a message board that lists some Eastern Orthodox services in Western, Pa. You can also go to St. Nicholas in Homestead for Christmas services on Jan. 7. I am posting this great commercial from Eat N’Park for two reasons it is just great and should be watched every year it gives me a… Read the rest
