UnWrapping the Union Project

If you are a regular reader of IheartPGH, you will know that I am a HUGE fan of the Union Project. The Union Project is a former church that has been lovingly restored into a community center and cafe in East Liberty. I have been working with a great group of people to put together UnWrapped. UnWrapped in the annual holiday fundraiser for the Union Project.
Great food, drinks, music and lots of silent auction items will be available. We have a great team working to put the event together and I think the decorations are going to look amazing.

Focus412 presents Carmon Rinehart

Carmon Rinehart

For those of you that may not know, Flickr is a photosharing blog that allows people to not only talk about their lives, but show the world what it looks like through the lens of their camera. Pittsburgh is fortunate enough to have one of the more active groups around, and in an attempt to bolster this, we have created Focus412. Basically, Focus412 is a monthly photography show that features the talents of some of Pittsburgh’s finest and most eclectic photographers. This Saturday, we will be showcasing the Carmon Rinehart. Bring your camera (we’re not snobs, any camera will do), come knock back a beer with us, and have some fun. Our shows are held at Remedy, which is located at 5121 Butler Street in Lawrenceville. The party starts at 8.

Benefit Concert for Muscians in New Orleans

Randy Baumann from WDVE sent event to me and I am thrilled to share the information. Thursday night is a benefit concert for Tipitina’s foundation in New Orleans. Tipitina’s foundation has a great mission and I sure this is going to be a great event. I hope you will attend.
Thursday, November 29th
Altar Bar, Strip District

I love the poster for this event – I am going to have to email the guys at LotusForge and see what other poster masterpieces they have put together.

The mission of the Tipitina’s Foundation is to restore Louisiana’s irreplaceable music community and preserve the state’s unique musical cultures.

House of Soul?

Some friends who currently live in CA, but are returning back to Pittsburgh have called to ask for some advice on wedding bands.
One band that they inquired about is House of Soul. Since I have not heard of this band I thought I would ask the IheartPGH readership for their thoughts.

Has anyone hear House of Soul? Are they are good wedding band? Do you have any other suggestions for good wedding bands?

Little Italy Days

I think Bloomfield is my most favorite neighborhood in the entire city.  Bloomfield is like those neighborhood that you find in other cities, places filled with interesting buildings, walkable streets and amazing ethnic food.  Amazing food and neighbors that really care about the neighborhood.  Bloomfield becomes a big italian party for 3 days this weekend.  Stop by, eat good food and enjoy some of the best of Pittsburgh.

Plus the Bloomfield merchants have a pretty snazzy website with some great pictures and an RSS feed.

There will be tons of street food so I will save my Bloomfield favorites for another day.
