Git Aht! – Things To Do This Weekend

January 26, 2007 Patrick

(Things to do while freezing your ya-yas off…) Quick note: I was busy all morning shoveling and salting the walk here at the luxuriously-appointed World Headquarters of iheartpgh.com so that Lindsay and Natalia wouldn’t soil their Manolo Blahniks when they rolled in sometime this afternoon around 4ish for a good solid hours work, so this had just been the Friday stuff, but now the post has been updated with the Saturday and Sunday highlights dropped in. Read on, MacDuff. Friday, January 26 Gallery Crawl, 5:30 p.m., Cultural District, Dahntahn Given the weather, the main thing here (among all of the… Read the rest

Git Aht! – Thursday Is The New Friday Edition

January 25, 2007 Patrick

The Big Throwback, 10:00 p.m., Brillobox, Upper Larryville J Malls and Omar Abdul are throwing their monthly git-dahn, and I’m still hanging crepe for JB. Head up to Brillobox and pay tribute to James in the best way you know how, and in the way James would’ve wanted you to, by jumping back, and kissing yourself.… Read the rest

Git Aht! – Things To Do This Weekend

January 19, 2007 Patrick

(Things to do while letting the officer know exactly how you feel…) Friday, January 19 The Parlour Boys, 9:30 p.m., Brillobox, Upper Larryville The Parlour Boys throw a good show, with audience participation, singalong, dancing and boozing. It’s everything I could want in a rock show, except for the part where the Brazilian models rub my neck the entire time I’m enjoying the music. Nice Device and Donora are the openers. Soulcialism, 10:00 p.m., The White Eagle, Sahsside Heat up the cold winter night by packing your ass into the Eagle with 100 or so of your closest, soul-loving friends.… Read the rest

Git Aht! – Things To Do This Weekend

January 12, 2007 Patrick

(Things to do while ordering a Surge…) Friday, January 12 Lisa Lampanelli, 8:00 p.m., Byham Theater, Dahntahn Rude, crude, and socially unacceptable. But enough about me, let’s talk about Lisa. Known in some circles as the “female Don Rickles”, Lisa’s act delivers the strength at most of the celebrity roasts you’ve seen in the past few years. Sample from the Shatner roast: “Betty White is so old, that on her first game show ever, the grand prize was fire.” That’s the cleanest pull I could get, the rest of her act is raunchy, filthy, dirty, and many other things Bill… Read the rest

Git Aht! – Things To Do This Weekend

January 5, 2007 Patrick

(Things to do while packing the truck for North Carolina…) Friday, December 29 First Friday Art Walk, 6:00 p.m., Ellsworth Avenue, Shadyside The Ellsworth crawl features Gallerie Chiz and their opening of “A Trip … Gilt without Guilt,” a big group show with dozens of artists working in various media. There’s also the Bella Arte gallery up there, a bunch of bars and restaurants, and the cupcake shop that gave my friend and I free cupcakes at 12:30 a.m. last Friday night as we were just walking by on the way to the car. (“CoCo’s” I think. I don’t recall… Read the rest
