Adeline Gray And Her Jump Into Fame

March 4, 2018 @ 1:00 PM - 2:30 PM

All welcome to this illustrated talk about Adeline Gray (1917-1975), who began parachute jumping in 1935 and worked for Pioneer Parachute. Manchester resident Jim Reuter, an engineer who recently retired from Pioneer after 52 years, will present the talk. Adeline was nationally famous for being the first person to test-jump a parachute made from nylon rather than silk, which she did in June, 1942. The program is at the History Center, 175 Pine Street. $5 for non-members, $3 for Society members, and free for children under age 16. Light refreshments will be available for sale.
