Free “Homestead for the Holidays” with a fireside reading of Charles Dickens’s “Christmas Carol,” period crafts, tours, and refreshments. The Manchester Historical Society presents this special open house for all ages on Sunday, December 10 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., at the Cheney Homestead, 106 Hartford Road, with commentary about the house’s features and contents, reflecting on New England traditions of a bygone age. The Homestead, built in 1785, was donated to the Manchester Historical Society by the Cheney family in 1968 for use as a house museum. Guided tours include history of the building and of the family who lived there. Donations welcomed for the upkeep of the Homestead.
